Learn How to Effectively Leverage Your Media Relations Program at Jan. 21 IABC/Detroit Meeting
Detroit, Mich., Jan. 6, 2004 – Unless your topic is controversial or is dealing with tragedy, it’s a challenge to get the general media to place your information where you want it, and where you need it. The Detroit chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/Detroit) will host a Wednesday, Jan. 21 professional development program discussing how to effectively work with assignment editors to tell your story. The meeting will be held at the Westin Hotel, 1500 Town Center, Southfield, from 11:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Bill Proctor, senior staff reporter at WXYZ-TV, channel 7 in Detroit, will share his insights on how to get your company’s name in the Rolodex of assignment editors and turn the spotlight on your issue, product, service or area of expertise.
“This is a good example of the outstanding programs IABC/Detroit has lined up for 2004,” said Cindy Orlandi, APR, president of IABC/Detroit and principal of Cyndosura. “In addition to media relations, upcoming IABC/Detroit professional development programs will feature crisis and internal communications and communications return on investment.” An upcoming schedule of IABC/Detroit’s professional development programs can be found on the chapter’s revamped Web site at www.iabcdetroit.com/news/events.htm.
Tickets for the event are $30 for members, $35 for nonmembers and $18 for students. Reservations are required and may be made by calling IABC/Detroit’s Executive Secretary Nancy Skidmore at (248) 546-5490.
