Internships Make Smart Business Sense – Learn Why at the IABC/Detroit April 14 Meeting

DETROIT, March 31, 2004 – Companies and individuals interested in learning more about the benefits of an internship program should plan to attend the April 14 IABC/Detroit luncheon at the Southfield Westin, 1500 Town Center, Southfield, Mich. from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Panelists will discuss how to recruit qualified talent, share success stories and provide advice on the topic of interns and the benefits of mentoring young professionals. Leah Reynolds, owner of Leah Reynolds Associates will moderate a panel discussion that will include diverse organizations –

-      Conny Coon, vice president, editorial, Big Idea Magazine

-      Patti Jones, co-op/intern director, U of M Dearborn-College of Arts and Sciences

-      Jaclyn Perreca, senior account executive and internship coordinator, Marx Layne

To attend this event, please RSVP to Nancy Skidmore at 248-546-5490 by April 7. The
cost is $30 for members, $35 for non-members and $20 for students.

As an added value to members whose companies are offering internships in summer 2004, IABC/Detroit welcomes individuals to bring a one- page job posting on upcoming internship opportunities. Provide copies of the job postings to Nancy Skidmore at the registration table and they will be made available to program attendees before and after the program. Students are expected to attend this program, so this event is a solid opportunity to find a qualified communication intern. The job posting should include a title, a description of your organization, the requirements of the internship and contact information for the company internship program.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to make a donation at the door of any amount for the May 2 MS Walk to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. More information about participating in the event will be on hand – contact Janine Krasicky or Francis Lieder about joining the IABC/Detroit Multiple Mob squad! Members can register at www.nmssmi.org.

IABC/Detroit, one of the largest chapters of the 13,000-member International Association of Business Communicators, has more than 250 professional communicators.
