As professional communicators, we create brilliant marketing campaigns through brochures and other promotional pieces. But our beautifully produced marketing efforts often fall flat because our clients, supervisors and colleagues accompany them with their own ineffectively written cover letters, proposals and other business communications.
Based on their own half-century of business writing expertise, Judy Goldwasser and David Silver developed Write Right for Business, a one-day, interactive seminar to dramatically increase the power of written business communications. It's a common-sense, easily grasped approach that works for CEOs, CFOs, and the entire organization - as well as for professional business communicators. At the Feb. 13 IABC lunch, they'll share a brief part of this program.
Judy Goldwasser, corporate writing consultant, is president of Wordwatch, founded in 1980 to provide writing services and strategies for clients in many fields, including retailing, health care, design and public service. She is a former Detroit Free Press reporter, who shared a Pulitzer Prize with fellow staffers for their coverage of the Detroit riots. She has written two books - one of them about writing - and has published dozens of articles in local and national magazines.
David I. Silver is president of Silver Communications Inc., which provides strategic communications counseling and training in public affairs, media coaching, business communications, community relations and crisis management. He is the former vice president of public affairs for The Taubman Company, where he was responsible for new development communications strategies, media relations and crisis communication programs for 22 super-regional shopping centers. He has also worked in the news media for more than a decade as a reporter, editor and foreign correspondent.
