IABC/Detroit members contribute to a successful conference in Canada
September 23-25, 2005
IABC London, IABC/Detroit, IABC Grand Valley and IABC Toronto collaborated to produce the successful Super-Sized Communications conference in London, Ontario, Sept. 23-25, 2005. The event was the first cross-border Great Lakes conference.
Programming focused on super events with great tips on how to plan, promote, stage and evaluate them.
Participants from IABC/Detroit included Ted Coutilish, Jennifer Charney, Jennifer Knoll, Eric Longs, Jackie McClure, Meaghan McClure and Nancy Sarpolis. Longs and Sarpolis also were members of the conference planning team.
Each of the four IABC chapters provided speakers for the event. The Detroit chapter arranged for speakers from the Michigan Opera Theatre, as well as Super Bowl XL. Charney represented IABC/Detroit in the Grammar Game, a challenging test of grammar knowledge, and beat out her competitors for top honors. Jackie McClure won a drawing for free conference admission.
"The hospitality of the London chapter was just outstanding," said Sarpolis. "They went out of their way to make sure the event provided the opportunity for professional development as well as cross-border networking."
Jackie McClure also liked the event. "Both Meaghan and I thought it was excellent," she said. "The speakers were great and it was great meeting and networking with the Canadian members."
